Some luggage multiplies the tip by 1.05, heavy luggage by 1.15, light traffic by 0.95, and heavy traffic by 1.10. Enter the fare on your receipt. The rows are examples for the math only. Airport and hotel rides
Tip on the fare you were charged. If the airport ride is a flat price, that flat price is the base, as long as it is the ride itself and not a separate toll line you can see. Do not guess a city's airport price and tip on the guess. Read the receipt.

Miami: no flat airport fares
Miami-Dade County says its Resolution R-700-22 eliminated all flat-fare taxi rates, so the meter applies to every trip, with a $15 minimum for trips that start at Miami International Airport or the Port of Miami. It also says there is no extra charge for passengers or luggage, and that SUVs and vans may add a 30% surcharge. Cash or card
Hand cash for the fare plus the tip, or pay the fare by card and add the tip on the reader. If you want a number the reader does not show, type the dollar amount from the table method: fare times 0.15, 0.18, or 0.20.
Each ride stands alone
Tip when the ride ends. A ride out and a ride back are two fares and two tips, each at 15–20% of that fare. Do not fold both fares into one tip at the end of the night unless the same driver did both and you are paying them together.
When to use 15% or 20% in Florida
Use 20% when the driver loads luggage for an airport run, adds a stop you asked for, or waits. Use 15% for a direct ride. Skip the tip if the driver is rude or takes a route you did not agree to.
